ProjectMOT, the volunteer organization that sends holiday care packages to deployed Jewish personnel, received a heartwarming thank-you email that demonstrates how important this program is. (Email edited to protect the identity of the military personnel.)
To whom it may concern and wonderful volunteers.
I am a US soldier currently deployed to Afghanistan. I received a care package today from your group. I want to send a special thanks to all of the volunteers that are involved in the donation process through your organization. There are very few Jews in the Army and even fewer it seems when we are deployed.
I was raised Orthodox and try to keep kosher while deployed, but it is very difficult. Please know that the packages that you send are incredible and much appreciated. I will be in country till November after a nine-month tour.
Please let all of those involved in your organization know that their efforts are touching those that need it. I thoroughly enjoyed all of the craft projects, cards, and candle holders that the kids made that were included in the package.
Thanks again for all that you do so that soldiers are cared for while deployed.
